Has anyone used a VR timing gear set on a VP?

Hi guys,
I need to replace the timing chain and gears on the Buick 3800 v6 in my '93 VP.
I have a set (crank and cam gears, chain and tensioner) for a VR 3800 v6 and I was wondering if I can use that on my VP's motor.
I can see that I would need to swap my oil pump for a VR one - which I also have spare.
It should all fit, I just don't know if it will run right or not with the different kit fitted.
Anyway, anyone done this before?

Thanks,
Dicko.

Well I decided to try it. Fitted the sprockets, chain and tensioner as well as a VR v6 timing case.
Started it up after rotating the crank 720 degrees to make sure all was ok and it seems to run nicely with no noticeable difference to the timing.
Now I've just got to take the VR case back off, swap that oil pump into my original case and seal it back on with a new gasket and it should be happy days.
