Been doing some testing on my vp with the following

newish "barn find" V6 engine
T5
Pacemakers
66mm throttle
Polished manifold elbow
KN panel
Factory CAI
Green foam tune.
Weight reduction (mild)

Top speed 170kmh max. Major problem here!

Removed CAI scoop and just ran air from the open inside the engine bay.

Retested on a shorter road, and topped 190Kmh+ (4th gear) before running out of road.

Yep! conclusion. Factory OTR CAI suck balls.

In case you are wondering how I tested on a road? a helper was down the run with walky talky keeping me informed. Also my helper would wave down anyone coming just in case. Also this done on roads where you lucky to see a car every 2 hours.

Cheers.

Which is why drag cars don't run intake tubing at all.....or even air filters.

haha yeah. but I was shocked to find that something that is suppose to increase air flow was worse than stock? Never the less I am doing this...

I have cut the induction bit that goes into the box and re-melted the plastic back together in the opposite direction, so it points down. Then I will run a 100mm insulated aluminum duct from that to one
of the corners just behind the bumper.

I just got the bottom of my airbox, cut it and managed an easy 230 km/h on a public road compare to the 200 I was getting before.

Not serious...
