You must wire it up as per the wiring diagram only.
Normally it's:
Yellow to the battery (constant 12v - non switched).
Red to 12v controlled by the ignition switch.
Black to chassis/battery ground

Please check your diagrams and wire accordingly.

Having the Red cable running to the battery unswitched will drain your battery faster than usual.

Depending on how long it takes your battery to go flat, disconnect your head unit and see if you still have the problem.

why do you prefer to turn it on and off manually? do you sit in your car with your stereo on after you turn the car off? there is a mod you can do to enable you to have the stereo on after you turn your ign off until you open the drivers door. have a search.
