I just bought a May 2005 VZ Excecutive, which has done 65000 kms.

After long time warmed up, I tried to rev it up while stand still in either Park gear or N gear. However, the engine's rev stopped at 4000rpm and could not reach any higher rev.:rip:

The first owner of this car is Police station. I am reall worry about this problem. Everything else of this car is working well, and it still under factory warranty.

Is this a fatal problem? Will the warranty cover it?

Any suggestion or help from master-hand would be appreciated very much!!!

thanks to f1tzy, bill_randomhero and Willz

I did that test just because I know the old commodore can reach 5500rpm in stand still. I feel happy to hear your answer, thank you all very much!

yes this in normal, the engine depending on the gearbox selection does have a limiter - it has to do with the torque management.

if and or when you have a tune done, the tuners can adjust this - i have the auto and mine can rev out.

why did you want it to rev higher than 4000rpm in park/neutral?
