Picked up the SOAG MSE last Friday which came early. Dealer said it was their last LE to be delivered. Very impressed with the short drive especially how it handled a crappy 1932 concrete road. What I am not impressed is my usual beef with Holden with the following components available in their inventory ie Calais V or Chevy SS and considering the price we have paid for the LE's

- no adjustable front seat belts. This is a major safety feature
- rear headrests not adjustable like the Calais V (std on director). This is a major safety feature
- self adjusting rear vision mirror (std on director).
- cooled front seats.
- Piss weak horn

My Series 1 Calais V is so "sloppy" in comparison with the MSE. This is not surprising but it is still a pleasure to drive. If anyone interested I could post some pics later.

Director also doesn't get the adjustable rear headrests like Calais.

Holden to auction three limited edition Commodores

Sold-out farewell Commodores to raise money for charity.

See link below for video review

Holden will auction three of its sold-out Commodore limited editions, one each of the Director and Motorsport V8-powered sedans and one example of the Magnum V8 ute.

The Aussie car maker is hoping to raise $360,000 for charity, with the majority going to The Smith Family to help fund 55 scholarships, and half of the proceeds from the Director sale going to Bev Brock's nominated charity, The Lighthouse Foundation.

The Motorsport edition pays hommage to Holden's long, successful history of racing in Australia. The car up for auction will be build number 05 out 1200, which was Peter Brock's racing number.

Holden builds on the SS-V Redline for the Motorsport by adding multi-mode magnetic ride control suspension, a revised rear sub frame, lightweight cross-drilled brakes, 20-inch alloy wheels and a modified cooling package. It also scores heated performance seats, leather wrapped instrument panel, blacked out roof, red highlights and Motorsport badges and decals.

When they were available to the public, the Motorpsort edition was priced from $61,790 before on-road costs in six-speed manual guise or $63,990 when equipped with a six-speed auto.

Holden has also chosen build number 05 of 360 for the Director, again honouring Peter Brock and his contribution to the original HDT Director of the 1980s with its crystal polarizer which he believed harmonized the car to improve its performance and economy.

Building on the Calais V specification, the Director gets many of the same mechanical upgrades as the Motorsport edition including the suspension, wheels, cooling and brake upgrades but maintains a set of standard rear sub frame bushes to keep its ride more luxury than track focused.

All Directors were priced from $63,990 before they sold out.

The Magnum ute will be build number 111 of 240, and is the most performance focused ute that Holden has ever made.

Holden has given its hay hauler special edition a unique rear-end that has shorter conventional shock absorbers from the SS sedan as the ute's exclusive rear-suspension set up means it couldn't be fitted with the magnetic ride control. However, the Magnum still receives the same brakes, alloys and performance seats as the Motorsport edition.

All models are powered by a 6.2-litre LS3 naturally-aspirated V8 petrol engine that produces 304kW and 570Nm.

As Holden inches towards the eventual shutdown of local production on October 20th the auction gives local enthusiasts one last chance to get a slice of the last locally-produced Holden Commodore.

"We know how much Australians love their Holden vehicles and these three are very special!" said Holden's executive director of manufacturing, Richard Phillips.

"So we think they’ll be a huge drawcard for motoring enthusiasts right across the country and hopefully they’ll inspire some fierce bidding under the hammer.

"These will be the last of the Limited Editions to be built, with unique build numbers and with the Director and Motorsport vehicles carrying racing legend Peter Brock’s famous number 05, we know they’ll be sure fire winners!"

The auction will take place on October 15 through auction house Manheim as part of Holden's Dream Cruise celebrations. Registrations open on September 29.

Same as MSE. Both of which have the rear seat out of the Chevy ss, same as the fronts minus embroidery minus cooling
