A TV cameraman has been punched in the face outside Adelaide's courts.

Channel 7 cameraman Andrew Foote was filming as a man walked out of the Sir Samuel Way building in Victoria Square in the city and took a swing.

He was a defendant in a case relating to theft of Holden factory parts.

Colleagues organised an ice pack for the cameraman and he spoke with police about the matter after court officials took the other man away.

Mr Foote was treated for facial injuries and later posted on social media he had received a fracture.
