I was looking at XR6T's before I brought my SS.

The main reason why I went the SS was simply I could not find a decent manual one within my price range (which at the time was also 15k). That was 3 years ago or so now so prices will be within that range, easily.

The second reason is im familar with Holdens. I was more comfortable looking at Commodores and identifying issues than I was going and looking at a Falcon and spotting things that were issues.

In the end its up to you, go with what you like. I preferred the shape of the Commodore over the Falcon and finding a manual was easy.

Performance wise, the LS1 loves mods, so does the XR6T. A lot of the XR6T's are making big power by simply upping the boost and getting a tune and intercooler.

Defo go the ss over a BA, if it were a BF that would be a different story.

You really should test drive a few of both to get a feel of what you prefer with the features and what is under foot

99' Series 3 VS S-Pac Ute.
If you're going to mod it and you want something fairly powerful for a cheap price you can't go past an xr6T.
My mates is pushing out 350 plus kw's at the wheels with only a few "simple" mods.
Thy being said I'd choose an SS just because I love commodores, that's just me though!

Opinions here might just be a little bias -___-

Biased towards the XR6T after a quick glance at this thread :p

I'd seriously consider the XR6T as well though.

I have nothing against Fords, they are good cars.
I dont get how people ask "Do you like holden OR Ford"
Why not both?

The VY has a better body, interior and sounds better, but the xr6t could be made into a weapon relatively easy. I'd rather an older model V8 over an older model boosted car just for reliability. But that's just me, either way you can't really go wrong. If you can get a BF though that would be the better choice.
