You can get diagnostic codes for the ABS by bridging pins 5 and 12 on the ALDL diagnostic connector. Works the same as bridging pins 5 and 6 for ECU/PCM diagnostic codes, only you have to count the times that the ABS light flashes instead of the engine light.

im not looking to get fault codes thanks,
i want to test the abs module by manually opening and closing it there is also a test mode on expensive scantools which runs a series of tests on it by opening and closing it, which is what it needs to flush any air out of the system since i changed it as my last one wasnt working properly, been having alot of issues with the brakes.
all the pads and rotors have been replaced, replaced the abs module and master cylinder with good 2nd hand ones but still not as good as i want it to be even after bleeding them 10 times.
going to service the calipers in the next few days but also want to make sure theres no air inside the abs module as u cant get it all out by just bleeding the brakes, need to manually open the valves and bleed from what ive heard.

Find somewhere safe and just hit the brakes activating the abs, then rebleed the brakes, I had no end of problems with low peddle of soft peddle after replacing my master cylinder, activated the abs lets the air pump its way out

yeah ive tried it but it just locks up and occasionally the abs kicks in but its bloody hard work to get it to even lockup, gotta put my body weight into the pedal.
hence why i was looking at the scan tools. i think ill just go to my mechanic and get him to do do it with his scantool.

do it on a dirt/gravel road, shouldn't be to hard to get the abs activated on that surface to bleed it.
doing this on tar is just going to cook the brake pads and glaze them over......

if it's just locking up then i dare say there's more of an issue.....

yea ill have to do it on a gravel road again.

ive already changed the abs module cos the last one wasnt working properly when they did a test on the scantool, it was making some weird noises.
just hope this one is good, if its not ill prob get my original one rebuilt.

The ABS will make some pretty weird noises when its activated and working or when testing ABS with a scantool. This is normal..

the mechanic said it was not the normal noise then after it finished the test it started throwing error codes for the abs module so it was definitely stuffed.
