Honing question

Hey guys,

Just through doing an engine rebuild. Now I'm honing my bores and a couple I can't re hone all the way because of a tiny lip, most of them the lip honed out put 2 bores I can't get to. Do I keep honing until it hones the lip or just leave it.

Pictures will explain. Putting new rings in as well.

You can get a lip remover tool. It's an adjustable clamp that sits on the top of the block and cuts away the lip slowly.
That's the best option. Then hone over it all.

As above, either buy/borrow a lip remover or take it to someone to do it.

just watch how much youre taking off. you may already be approaching resize values.

This lip is caused by the rings wearing away at the bores, the beginning of the lip is the point at which the rings stop.

Can you tell me why there is no lip at the bottom of the bore where the ring also stops?
