the end head bolts on the drivers side of my VK are almost impossible to torque correctly in the car cos' of the vac booster/master cylinder location. the compressor in the spark plug trick works a treat. no better way to do it imo. soz but i would much rather drop the engine than take a head off again in-car.

LOL and i was gonna use head studs on my next rebuild.

I used a short extention to tourqe the end drivers side head studs..a pain to get at but still do able..Ive never used head studs.. but from what ive been reading and hearing they be the way to go..

normal head bolts are fine in most applications you'd be suprised.
studs really more for f/i engines running big boost.
torque wrench is a pain but u can do it just chang extentions lol its all fun.
compressed air is the only way it should be done otherwise heads off.
If a vlve drops too far you will be in trouble,no chance with compressed air
unless you do something stupid.
