Interested on how frequently others change the oil in a sv6 commodore?

Mine has 92000kms on the clock. Oil was last changed at 88000kms in June last year (8 months ago). I assume 10,000km mark or 12mths whichever comes first? But Interested in others?

Log book says once every 15000kms but that seems like alot.

I do 5k or 12 months whichever comes first.
Usually the 12 months now as 14 years old car and 111,000 kms on the clock and 41k were done in the first 2 years.

Depends a lot on how you drive it and what oil you put in it. On my old SV6 I mostly changed every 15,000kms (sometimes over) and never had any issues with sludging etc. Car lasted until around 330,000kms before the transmission packed it in, the engine was still running fine.

Most of my driving was regular highway driving though and I always used a good quality oil. If your only driving short distances or putting the cheapest oil you can get your hands on into it then l expect there will problems with a 15,000km change interval.

It would be best to at least half the interval to 7,500kms if you are driving short distances or constantly stuck in traffic during peak hour etc.

Twice a year is ideal, but it’s imperative to use the CORRECT oil as per your books with the car, plus the oil filter EVERY time.
