Anyone know how thick this support/brace/whatever is?
I want to insert a nutsert for a driving light brace.

It’s the bumper support bar. You can’t drill it without removing it.
If you drill it, you’re going to have a not fun time.

There is the windscreen washer bottle in it.
I don’t think there will be enough room for the nutsert and the washer tank to still fit.

That’s why it has to come off the gauge clearances and remove it first. You don’t want the washer tank in there while doing this.

Perfect!

Thanks for reply. I had a feeling it wasn't just a matter of drilling a couple of holes.

I didn't know about the washer bottle but was concerned about structural integrity.

I'll look for a 'Plan B'

Cheers

The black bit behind it is the washer bottle, the bar itself is about 3-4mm thick
Great!

Thanks so much for taking the time to contribute.

Plan 'B' was looking like rope, glue and plywood with a measure of asbestos thrown in to make it really dodgy.

I'll tell 'A' to get their coat.

Cheers...

Gotta say, I suspect that alloy bar is part of the crash protection and if so it shouldn’t be drilled or stuff bolted to it.

You can see the VE crash structure below

Not sure how different the VF is crash structure wise but it’s an improvement over the VE.

During production, you can see the alloy crash bar is installed at the same time as headlights, then the front bar is added.

PS: video below talks about repairing VF and its crash structures. Haven’t watch it but it may say more,.. or say not much… I’ll chuck it here anyway.

Remove the front bar. Remove the headlights. Remove the support bar. Remove the washer tank. Then you see if there’s room for the nutsert. If so, drill and install the nutsert. Job done.
