I will be doing mine today - the rubber gaskets cost me 24bucks each :nutkick:
I prefer rubber over cork, that sounds like something i heard in a porno once...

Lol, true, I have done this and it isn't hard, I used a small rachet with adaptor for a small torx bit for the 2 bolts at the back. Goodluck

yes they are a bitch to do even the rubber ones as they always slip off when trying to get them on. i was hooking it onto the valve cover tho oops maybe i have them upsideown lol they stopped the leaks so i dont care lol i payed about $35 for a pair of them from sprints.

Just finished, very gay indeed, the drivers side bolt closest to the firewall can go get ####ed. All the rest are ok bar maybe the two on the drivers side at the bottom if you got ABS. As long as you get the molded gaskets its not to hard cause they hold onto the head pretty well while you fiddle with the cover. And if you paint em while their off start the job in the morn cause I just had to put semi dry covers back in with a sneaky in bay touch up, 4 hours dry time is outrageous.

i think thats why most of them leak because no 1 can be bothered doing all the bolts tight as there a bitch to get to the passengers side is a piece of cake but the drivers side mainly the back bolt is a pain in the ass lol also the front 2 on abs models

always spend the extra $$ on the rubber gaskets.
I usually just put a few dobs of superglue between the gasket and the rocker cover to hold it into place, makes it a lot easier.

About to do my gaskets now in the VT, Getting the horrible burned oil smoke/smell from the passenger side >_< Ive been told to do the rocker cover gasket with the mould facing up (eg. Wrapping around the rover cover and not the engine) Does it really matter up or down..?

The grove in the robber gasket fits the head perfect. It wouldn't sit right if you tried to wrap it around the rocker cover

I also put a thin strip of aviation sealant on both sides of the gasket as it doesn't set hard like superglue does but it sets enough to hold the gasket in place and help seal it.
