you will firstly need a power inverter. 12v -> 240v

Incorrect, MOST flat panel screens are actually 12v inside and have a 240v step up transformer inside. any competent tv repair shop will be able to bypass that and fit a 12v plug like an aderson connector on the end.

we have heaps of caravans come thru work with this done, and hey-presto! 12v TV

sounds like a nice install either way, good luck with it!
