hey guys

The other week my car got picked up for being to loud, it was 4db over the limit, it's a Vz sv6 with a twin 2 1/4 system.

Any suggestions on how to quiet it down just for the test, read stuff about steel wool in the exhaust cuts the sound back but i honestly have no idea?

I only want a quick fix just to pass the test.

Cheers

Fit a couple of smaller tips with rolled in ends.

Any exhaust shop can do it. Get a couple of tips that fit inside you pipes and tack weld them on, this will quieten it down.

This will work, it would reduce the noise by about 2 or 3db approx. install them just before the pipe joins on to the rear mufflers.

in the past i have used rolled up chicken wire in the pipes , passed the noise test no worries drive home and pulled it out never hassled again in that car , last one was in my VL running a 3 " system one muffler and a ressy out the back once again letter arrived saying a police officer observed my car and believed to have a defect or loud exhaust , so pulled out the chicken wire rolled it up dropped the pipe after the cat and fitted the wire , went for the test passed with a reading of
84 db , drive home removed wire no more hassle over the next three years .
Also i have used the baffles in the rear exhaust flanges of late model ve's 6 and 8 , just a plate of steel 1.0mm thick with holes drilled thru
