ya mum!
Yes there is.
In S.A a few years back there was a push for front plates on bikes, the coppers put plates on the front of their bikes and got told to remove them because it was illegal to display them.

That's NUMBER plates. Not P plates.

Interesting. Anyone know what reg allows that? Seems to be a dangerous precedent. Breaking road rules to catch someone breaking road rules.- do as I say, not as I do!

They're not breaking the rules when there's a rule that says they're exempt.

ROAD RULES 2014 - REG 305 Exemption for drivers of police vehicles

ROAD RULES 2014 - REG 305
Exemption for drivers of police vehicles
(1) A provision of these Rules does not apply to the driver of a police vehicle if:
(a) in the circumstances:
(i) the driver is taking reasonable care, and
(ii) it is reasonable that the provision should not apply, and
(b) if the vehicle is a motor vehicle that is moving-the vehicle is displaying a blue or red flashing light or sounding an alarm.

(2) Subrule (1) (b) does not apply to the driver if, in the circumstances, it is reasonable:
(a) not to display the light or sound the alarm, or
(b) for the vehicle not to be fitted or equipped with a blue or red flashing light or an alarm.

Ah that word "reasonable". One way to alienate any of the public that may still support the police is to fine them big money for doing something and then blatantly do the same thing even if there is no emergency.

How to spot an unmarked police car?

Follow the road rules and see them when they pass you.
Or, don't follow the road rules and when they light they're lights up behind you, accept whats coming to you.

Pretty simple really.
Was 78 pages really necessary?

But what happens if i see one when im NOT doing anything wrong and their lights ARENT on? Is that akin to saying "Beetlejuice" three times? Will i suddenly have good luck? Will it rain in Spain but mainly on the plane?

Who said anything about them having their lights on?
I was referring to the fact that if you are not doing anything wrong, they will have no reason to pull you over.
