How to tell if an engine is 355

Hey all I bought a project car and it has a vt v8 in it with no engine covers or wiring is there anything or anyway I can tell this engine is a 355 or a 304 with out pulling it down

lift it up a bit take the sump off and measure the throw on the crank you could also try the bit of wire in the spark plug hole but i'm not a huge fan because you can put scratches in the bore wall.

just curious, what makes you think it could be a stroker?

I dunno just being curious as it sounds like its got some grunt seems to rev a lot faster then my mates

Maybe its just got higher comp (shaved heads)?

Or extractors and a changed idle limit lol. Or just less sound insulation and a louder muffler.

If it was reg'd at one stage, run the VIN and see what you get unless the motor has been changed since. Otherwise, shouldn't there be a casting on the side somewhere telling you what C.I it is?

you said it is a vt v8 but you didnt say what car it is in... if its in a lighter car then your mates like a vl or somthing it will rev quicker because it is pulling less weight. i think the vt sedan weighed in at about 1600kg.

but yeah best way to check is pull off the sump
