HSV headers/cats

G'day all,
This is probably an over asked question on an over serviced subject, but I've had no luck getting an answer cruising the posts, and besides its an oldie but a goodie!!!
I'm swapping out the stock exhaust manifolds and cats for HSV headers and cats on the VE SS
( I know I know, don't bother).
Anyhow, do you definitely need to disconnect the steering shaft? or can you work around it.
Also is it ok to reuse the manifold bolts?.

I found disconnecting the steering shaft made it way easier. I brought new bolts as one of the old ones broke. cheap as
