Extractors ARE headers.... Same damn thing...

The HSV's did have aftermarket style extractors fitted from factory though, rather than the stock LS1 headers that the Holden variants came with... Plenty of room for improvement though.

True extractors are pipes which are the same length from the exhaust port that meet together at a collector.

Headers are like extractors (made from pipes) except the pipes aren't the same length and usually join to each other before reaching a collector.

HSV R8 headers are an upgrade to the std commodore exhaust manifold.

After market extractors often sit lower 1" approx under the car whereas the std HSV R8 Headers are built to keep the exhaust as high as possible, and are designed with heat shields .

Those wanting to keep the HSV R8 headers and a std catback system can upgrade the cat to a 100 cell stainless cat available from Venom Exhausts Melbourne ring George 0402 753 146

Fitting these will throw engine codes

A tune is necessary to get the best performance.
