hi do you have to use premium unleaded petrol with the HSV SV3800 memcal

SV3800's ran off normal unleaded fuel, there wasnt premium around in 1989:w00t:
Keep in mind they also ran a different cam, so if you are slotting one in behind a normal 6 you wont get the same results, but then if you are going to the trouble of getting the 3800's cam might aswell get a custom one for the same money........then the memcal won't suit.......damm cars:b:

I don't know how different the cam was in the sv3800 but it can't have been much different because the memcal isn't much different at all to a stock 1990 chip and there would be lucky to be 2kw in power difference between the two on the same car, might be worth more power in an earlier car/chip though : )

the sv3800 memcal was worth about 5fwkw from standard, giving you about 130 ish.
there are no mechanical changes to the engine for the sv3800
This memcal will give a better idle quality & good fuel consumption, you may or may not notice any increase in power

I drive a SV3800 and use unleaded with no problems.

sv3800 had no cam had chip,exhaust it only made like 132kw over 125

Different manifolds right? was the rest of the exhaust the same?
