hey so if i cut my (stock)exhaust resonator off i would just weld some extra pipe on to bring it to normal length? if so thats pretty easy, would it make much of a difference to a stocky exhaust?

might be worth a go!!!

You can buy sections of pipe to fit without the resonator in it. I got a Redback 2 1/2" for the VL and sounded good. Cost $60 and is shaped to the original spot with hangers brackets etc, see your local exhaust shop.

Having the resonator taken out is NOT illegal. As long as it meets the dB rating (sound emission) it will be fine.

I had a 2.5 inch twin cat system into 3 inch with one muffler put onto my VP. The resonator was behind the muffler so it was sitting under the rear seat.

The drone in that bitch was incredible.

Cut the resonator out and the drone totally disappeared, and now it sounds tougher as well.

I don't see how this can be illegal. Noise level actually decreased and the resonator doesn't filter gases anyway.

Hey BerlinaIIVS,
Cheers for that!
The important question is - Did it drone?
Im thinking of cutting mine off as it scraps on my driveway only when i have a tank full of juice.
The reason why im not goin the usual 2.5inch catback is because i dont want it that loud and there is nothing wrong with the pipework and muffler at the moment. But i wouldnt mind a bit of a note.....

Mine droned a little bit, but didnt sound bad at all, mind you, it was 2.5 inch system on the VL.

Take the resi off your standard system and will sound better for sure
