Ignition permanently on even when keys out , motor not engaging

The key doesn't go through the click stages it still turns but won't engage the motor , the ignition is permanently on ,have to pull the terminal off to cut the power. I pulled the barrel out but it still turns I don't think that's the problem . Anyone got any clues as to what it may be cheers

Looks like the shaft has broken off the barrel and therefore not turning the ignition switch. You will need a new barrel.

Yep thanks mate I reckon that's it the very tip of the shaft with the spring is broken off I had a look in the column slot but couldn't see it anywhere hope it doesn't clog it up
