Hi all,

I just sold my VZ SS :( as the fuel bill was killing me, I'm looking at a VZ SV6 and I can't find one I like that has a towbar as I need one. I'm not really interested in paying someone to install it as I normally do my own mods but I'm wondering whether it would be possible,

Basically I'm wondering if anyone knows here.

1. Do holden predrill all new car chasis with towbar nuts so that factory fitting is easier for them (which would mean I just have to bolt it in)

2. If the answer is no to above has anyone done it and how hard was it for the actual fitting of the bar?? (I'm not too concerned with the wiring etc - its pretty much the bolting on of the bar that I'm concerned about)

Thanks in advance guys.

the lighter tow bars are easy to fit. my mates vt(which would be the same as fitting to a vz) did require 4 holes drilled, but they where pretty straight foward on where to drill. took a couple of hours start to finsih including the wiring

the bigger tow bars (1600kg etc) have a bit more work because of the extra bracing etc

I put mine onto my Vy Calais and everything was there to bolt onto, just remove the bumper and attach with supplied nuts/bolts, took longer to take the rear bumper off than to fit the towbar. Good luck with it, very easy to do.

Hmmm, Cheers. I'm actually looking at a 2100kg one haha.

But still shouldn't be a problem hey. Do the bars come with instructions or is it up to you to peruse the net and come up with your own?

,

with the 2100kg kit, its all the same as if your where doing the 1200 or 1600kg, ie just bolts up not braces etc anymore,

the kits should also come with super lift shocks, heat sheilds etc,

get the holden trailer wiring harness as it plug and play so dont go chopping wires,

I know this is an old thread but...

I have just tried to install a 2100 kg towbar. i got the first part on that sits behind the rear bumper but the part that sits underthe fuel tank i cant bolt on.

Its a holden sedan towbar off a vy and im trying to bolt it on a vz

the problem is that there is no bolt hole on the passengers side for the extra heavy duty part.

where does it bolt?

if anyone can give me a pic of this that would be great

Fitting a tow bar to as

Hey I have a similar question Ive just got a hayman reece 2100kg tow bar for my VP an it all fits except at the back of the fuel tank the brackets don't fit as I have a long range fuel tank! How do we go about fitting it an can I get the brackets engineered?? I live in a small town so we don't have a specialist tow bar fitting joint :)
Cheers
