The new one looks better to me, doesn't look quite as much as though the styling team struggled to cope with east-west engine packaging. The old one was too bulbous IMHO.

the more i look at the front, the more i dislike it. It just looks awkward.

I really dont get the upright vents as opposed to the horizontal ones. It makes the front of the car look too tall.
I prefer this to the Commodore Mazda nose.

Finished a bit earlier than normal today so thought I'd drop in to my local Holden dealer and see one of these things in the flesh. I went in with an open mind intending to give it a chance......
Well, it's worse than i thought. Seeing a Calais badge on a girly looking hipster car that's doing an impression of a KIA/Mazda nearly brought a tear to my eye. It's just doesn't compute seeing a Calais or Commodore badge on car that has no personality and looks identical to 50 cars i passed on the way home.
They don't look tough or have anything that stands out about them. Just another car to compete with KIA, Mazda 3 and a camry.
The VXR, to me, is just like the sporty version of a Camry. No street cred at all.
They are probably a good car in their own right but putting a commodore badge on it means people like me are going to be comparing it with previous models. And to see one of these things sitting a few metres away from a VF today, i just couldn't reconcile that these 2 cars could share the same name.
Holden should have called it something else and retired the Commodore name so old pricks like me don't try and compare the 2.
