Its a repairable write off because its too expensive to fix. You could use it to convert your car to manual and make money off the ute parting it out. Panels, trim, wheels, air bags and your auto. You have the potential to make some money back off it.

I don't know how bad it is.
Although when they suggest an onsite inspection, I always assume that's not a good thing.
The car is not that great, it has no rego, it's filthy under the bonnet (sitting around for a decent amount of time) and has damage to almost every panel on it!

If you want a manual in your VY, just do a gearbox conversion.
Other than that, if it was me I would not wast my time with the ute. You will find better ones around trust me.
Regarding the dust in the engine bay, even if it is dust from a country road. It shows the owner couldn't care what condition the engine was in.

Either way mate, it sounds like you are set on getting this car.

Too many to list......
Looks to me that the entire body is kinked from the impact look at the two mid sections. The most economical way to repair that would be a new body shell which isn't feasible for this ute. I think the ute is worth about $800-$1000 at auction to be stripped for parts provided the white bumper bonnet and driver's guard are ok condition. Bear in mind there is easily $3k in parts on that ute all day long

I will be at that auction on Wednesday however I don't think I'll be looking at the ute I have my eyes on something else.
