Remove the front bar, then get up it up on ramps (or axle stands if that's your thing).

The rear of my VK was on the bump stops and our trolley jack still fit under just....only a $200 cheapy from Repco....oh and that's jacking it up by the diff, so unless u have IRS, the height of it never changes no matter how low ur springs are unless u change ur tyre size.

not a stupid question.. i wedge a plank of wood, about 3-5 cms high i think? infront of the front wheel (which ever side u wanna jack up first) and slow roll to the point where ur wheel is sitting safely on it. the wood should be fat enough to support ur tyre. then go for ur life  and make sure ur car is in park, handbrake on AND in gear if manual.

MAKE SURE THE WOOD IS THERE WHEN U LOWER IT BACK DOWN OR YOU WILL CRY!!!!!!!!!

curious, how would not having the wood there make you cry?

wood is missing, you lower jack
car stays on jack
raise jack again
slip wood under
lower jack
roll jack out
drive off wood

you must be a very emotional person

LOL!!

well the jack i use is fatter at the part that the side skirt of the car sits above, and slopes downwards towards the part that the car is lifted by. so if i was to use a block of wood to get my car high enough for the jack to fit under, then if i lower it again without the wood there, the side skirt would hold the weight of the car on the fat part of the jack. BUH BOWWW. wouldnt end very well.
not every jack is the same.
sif not cry if u crushed ur side skirt out of ur own stupidity?!
maybe im just a sook :p
