More speed traps for motorists | Herald Sun

This relates to the vic liberal government but im sure other states can relate.

The Baillieu government started to publish speed camera locations which saw revenue decrease by 8% with no increase in accident rates. Strange Idea but here's a crazy out there theory. Maybe if people know there is a speed camera on a particular road they slow down and decrease their chance of both crashing and getting fined.

Now this plans been abandoned and even more speed cameras introduced despite Baillieu's critcism of the previous governments use of cameras as revenue raising instead of road safety.

This is the latest decision that makes me think the state Lib's I voted for are even more useless than the useless state labor mob they replaced.... Dont even get me started on how they handled smart meters

Yup - Myki, Smart Meters, Speed Cameras, Public Transport services... So much to fix from Labor's mess and mis-management but the current government is just so full of inaction. I don't know what's worse!

Yeah and what happens now when the rest of the public servents struggle to get pay rises that barely meet cost of living increaes and most times don't even do that.

For all those that voted for Labor (most of Canberra's population ironically) welcome to Enterprise Bargaining.

They probably heard how much South Australia was making from speeding fines. Our Police force has budgeted for large increases made easier in part from the whopping increase in the cost of fines and the addition of fines for defects. Not leaving any stone unturned our mercenary government.

The reversal of the publication of speeding fines despite neutral result in accidents spells out quite clearly what we all know. Road safety is about revenue collection.
