Hey I just renewed my insurance, my car is in excellent condition
How can those mor0ns insure it for such a pittance? The going price on Carsales is like $11k-$13K

Just wondering what others that have a VT Calais 97 model with 173,000 on clock LPG dual fuel excellent condition are insured for?

is it insured for the price which you purchased it for? That's what they did for me when i bought mine, even though the market value was a fair bit higher...

I think they would look at the Redbook valuation. If you think it is low, give them a call and talk to them.

According to redbook this is the vehicles value (factor in extra's/lpg):

Prices based on km 165,000 - 275,000
Trade in price guide* $4,000 - $5,700
National average price - private sale* $6,100 - $8,000
Price when new (RRP) $48,760

Ours was insured for $17,000, mind you it has less km's, its a v8 and has modifications. Its not insured atm as its been off the road for last 8 months being further modified.

We were told by one insurance mob they'd only insure it for $7000, if you're unhappy shop around.

My VX berlina is insured through AAMI for $13000. Premium only cost $254 for full comp with the premium adjusted to make excess $2000.

I didn't mind because my old Skyline GTR was $1500 per year with the same excess...
