Well thats good that the Alloytec is 60deg. That means it is an even fire engine and would be suitable for my application. For an explanation of even fire have a look at this page

ahh, mean as, so you need even fire to keep it nice and smooth in the air yeh?

Its a bit more involved actually. The problem is that unlike cars aircraft don't have a long flexible driveline with tailshafts, diffs, axles, rubber tyres to dampen the power impulses from the engine. If an engine is uneven fire and the prop and transmission shaft are not carefully chosen a harmonic or series of harmonics can exist through the rev range that can lead to prop blades departing or even engine mounts being destroyed. All of which can be guaranteed to ruin your day.
