G'day, I have a replica AC Cobra with a stock (untuned) L98 and T56 with 3.7 rear end (S15 200SX). Tri-Y headers with 1 7/8" primaries into a 2.5" system with X-pipe.

The gearbox is out for a mid shift conversion and I'm going for a tune and maybe a cam.

Looking for a lumpy idle and good even torque curve mainly for street use and the odd track day. The car weighs around 1100kg so it needs good manners.

Top of my list is a VCM480. What supporting mods should I do? Trunion upgrade, double valve springs? Any other suggestions? TIA.

Trunnions, yes, always a good idea but I don't think you need double springs, just get some Pac Racing springs from Rev High.

You will probably want a better clutch than stock or it will likely slip.

And what's your opinion on the VCM480 for my scenario? Rev High in Hallam is close by, thanks!

Choose your exhaust wisely. Many buy an X Force but they sound pretty terrible.

Exhaust is all custom 2.5". Nothing available off the shelf as these cars are 100% hand built and they're all a little different.

Ahhh, now I understand you have a Cobra, fibreglass body, but with a VZ engine and driveline? I was thinking you mocked up a VZ to look like the old Ford Cobra of the 70s we used to see on the streets.

Yeah sorry. And yes VZ series II engine. New from Ballarat Holden delivered on a crate for something silly like $3500 for the long motor.

$3,500 for a 6L crate engine? That's a bargain. It's more than that in parts alone to rebuild one
