VS Commodore Ute
Hey guys for the last few months I have been buying some goodies to go into my VS Ute and thought to share my journey with everyone.

Step one was to do a quick mock up of the motor with the charger and intercooler adapter

Step two was to pull the motor and auto out

Seperate the two and stripped down the motor to just the block

Decided I wanted to do something I haven’t done before which was porting my heads, gave it a go for my first time reckon I did alright (haven’t polished the combustion chamber yet)

The heads are currently out getting decked and valves seated

Since the heads are now ported got the LIM and ported that out as well, only done the runners on it at this time but will open the top up for more even air distribution

Wanted to take the next step with the charger as well and took the time to port the bottom of it out

I will be cleaning it up tomorrow when I have time and will also open up the back of the charger abit

Tomorrow sending my block off to get decked and the cylinders bored out .020 to suit the oversized pistons. While it’s at the shop new bearings for the rods, mains and cam will be done as well.

Todays update
Block is dropped off at the machinist to get bathed and decked

Picked up my valves off him

He gave back my heads with some tips on making a better port and showed me how to clean up the chamber before he decks them just in case I nick the sealing surface, the angles for the seats of the valve where cut also

Just gonna spend the rest of the arvo cleaning up my port on the charger

Just made the decision I will be opening the back of the charger as well for the added volume of air going into the rotor case

Wanted to show this bit of the porting because I find it funny but using a JATZ box as a template for the size of the elbow exit to scribe the lines for the back of the charger :)

If you are replacing lifters don't buy Nason. Make sure you buy genuine Johnson lifters from a machine shop.
