Hey everyone.

Just wondering is it possible to put a later model LSD into a IRS VP?

What models can i do this with?

Will they bolt straight on?

Do i need other parts with it other than the LSD?

and the price range?

Any help would be great :)

If it helps you mate... Yes you can fit the M80 from the later VT, VX, VY.

You just need to change to the earlier pinion flange, and also dock off the extra length on the pinion bolt

You know where the tailshaft bolts to the diff? thats the pinion flange, or yoke is the proper name i think.... VN- VT1 had a round steel 4 bolt flange. later models had a rubber donut link, 3 bolt i think.

When you remove this flange from a later model, there is like an inch or so of extension on the end of the bolt underneath that centers the rubber donut. When adapting the earlier flange (as above) to this that extra extension simple gets chopped off. you can actually do this yourself. BUT if you're not sure i recommed seeing a diff specialist.

Im finally gettin around 2 fitting my LSD Diff into the VP calais, now ive found out that mine will bolt straight up 2 the tail shaft no worries, but seems with my drive shafts i dont have the bits that the drive shafts bolt 2 in the diff or do i?. can the bits from the diff in the calais atm fit into the LSD diff? that just has the standard 3.08 single peg diff in atm or do i need 2 get 1ns 2 suit? wat r these parts even called?

i can answer my own question haha yes they did fit straight swap no worries.

Tho just wondering if any of u guys can help with a knocking skipping noise im gettin now after its been installed. Ive noticed mainly after been 4 a drive so mayb after the diff oil warms up? wen backing in the drive way and having the steering wheel turned slightly or alot so its not driving straight (does it driving very slowly forwards 2 just not as noticable) the diff makes a light but noticable skipping, shuddering sound. 1st i thought oh no better not have been giving a spool. has any 1 heard about this? is there such a thing if the diffs too tight? it has been rebuilt apparently 4000kms ago but atm it feels kinda like a spool in some way? it doesnt really sound like the tyres r skipping i dont think but somthing else? the strange thing is as soon as i am driving or reversing dead straight it doesnt do it

A freshly built LSD that is set up 'tighter' that factory spec will skip a bit when first driven. Its called bind. As long as you have used proper LSD oil suited to these LSD's you will be fine.

When i first drove my VN with completely rebuilt LSD i drove out the driveway and it shuffled exactly like my track car (that has a spool). it was like that for about a week, approx 350kms. if it bothers you too much just pour in a bottle of Penrite LSD additive.

I picked up my newly built M80 for my SS yesterday, im expecting it to be the same as my VN.

yours should settle in after a bit. Good thing is you have a tight LSD on your hands!

I recommend you flush the oil after about 1000km, just to clear out the lapping paste and the dust from the cones bedding in.
