G'day all,
had an alternator issue so the battery went flat while the car was locked, for some reason the key won't unlock the car when turned in the lock, any suggestions on how to get in or access the battery to get some charge in it would be greatly received.

There's a trick to it. Put the key in and turn while pulling the handle a little, lightly. It might feel like the key is going to snap but it won't. You might have to to jiggle them. It should budge. This has worked for me a couple of times

if you cant get door open with a key
jack up front and use jack stands
attach jumper leads,
neg to anywhere you can find
positive to the big stud on starter motor
once open figure out your door lock for next time

Would it be the same if the key just keeps turning around? Almost like the lock is stuffed

If the key keeps turning in circles something is broken.
Can you try the passenger side lock? (if fitted.)

Does VX have such? I thought central locking became standard VS series II....
