Hi all, just wonder8ng why I have to keep topping up the radiator on my 08 v6 ve. Every few days I check it and it always needs topping up. The header tank(overflow tank) is always full, no splits in the hose, just dosent want to suck back the water. Had the same problem with my vy and vz as well. Thank you.

Try a new, genuine radiator cap.

I had a 1986 Falcon wagon from new. It lost water and I couldn’t work out why. After eighteen months old I took it to a radiator specialist and he discovered a very small leak in the radiator, which only leaked when the engine got really hot. The leak came out as steam and was not detectable under normal circumstances. The guy said it was probably due to a manufacturing fault in the original radiator.

Well I seem to have fixed my problem. Found out my new genuine radiator cap was one from an auto accessory shop. Bought a new genuine cap and so far ( 4days) all seems well. The non standard cap pressure is 125kpa where as the genuine cap has a pressure of 140kpa. No leaks from a pressure test also so it seems the non genuine cap was to blame. Thanks to all who offered advice.
