This thread is for people with LPG/DUAL FUEL Commodore VEs
Any tips to make your car run smoother etc please chime in.

For me, on petrol it runs as it should but on LPG there is expected 10-20 percent performance degradation. It was okay when car was maintained well.
Had this period of time where my friend was driving the car and wasnt taking good care of it, servicing on time or at all :) and now on LPG there is very rough and uneven idle, like pronounced misfire and idle revs fo up and down between 1 mark like its a see-saw .

How would one clean LPG system ? I am not sure if it uses same injectors as on petrol or what does it use... so any help to calm the idle and restore performance would be appreciated.
Anything else too.
I am bringing my VE back to life, so far cleaned the engine, cam actuators, replaced things here and there and now looking to takcle the LPG system. With additives/products or with sheer knowledge and how-to's.

THANKS
AGAIN
:) :) :) :) :)

I would be looking at replacing the LPG filters and see if that changes it to start with

Take a pic of your engine bay mate - so I can see what type of LPG setup you have

from there, the problem solving can begin

Theres the engine bay. Mechanic said some have filters some dont...LPG filters wet/dry...so I dont know what I have .
Car info says :
HOLDEN COMMODORE LPG Auto VE 08/2006~08/2011 4 Door Sedan RWD LPG 3.6 Litre, LW2 (HN) V6 24v DOHC VVT MPFI {175kW}
I dont know if its factory or aftermarket LPG but its DUAL FUEL car.

One big mindfuk: See those relays/injectors , whatever they are on top of the engine with hoses going in it from left and right? When I lift front hose a bit to see whats underheath I hear HISSSSssss and can smell LPG. Pretty sure thats not safe. When left alone it doesnt HISSSSsss. Maybe hose or hose clamp gives way when lifted up? Damn. Exactly where you see I applied some silicone so rty and see if itll fix it or show the source of the leak.

Offtopic:
I want to do the oil change as well as Im doing few things to the car so why not? lol. BUT I only have that factory jack thats for changing wheels. Can I use it to lift the car from the front somewhere and have enough tilt/elevation to change the engine oil?

Tnx

Looking at the top of your engine, there are two long silver blocks on top of the intake, one on each side. These long silver blocks I’ll call the lpg manifolds and each lpg manifold has three lpg gas injectors (one also has an lpg pressure sensor).

These lpg injectors are controlled by the lpg module and open and close under electronic control, thus low pressure gas can be fed into the intake port for each piston via those thin rubber hoses. This you have lpg sequential lpg injection… These lpg intake port hoses shouldn’t be worn, cracked or leaking and if they are they are cheap to replace.

The converter which is under the right hand fender feeds lpg in a low pressure gas state to both the lpg manifolds. The low pressure lpg gas passes through the big round silver lpg gas filter before reaching the T piece where it’s then fed to each lpg manifold.

With the factory system, the lpg converter is located under the right front fender but non factory systems may place it elsewhere. Regardless where it’s located, the lpg converter also contains a liquid filter which needs to be serviced.

Can’t remember the service schedual but one of the filters is done @ 15k or 30k intervals and the other is at 120k intervals, or something like that. best search for either VE or VF workshop manual since the pdf can be found on one or another thread within JC‘s forum.

Servicing lpg systems is illegal unless licensed. It can be dangerous unless you know what you are doing and how the system works and what safety measures need to be taken when you are working on it. So be warned…

As for using a car scissor jack to raise the front of the car, so you can do an oil change, that’s something that only temporary Australians do (temporary because it’s dangerous and will kill you at some point in time, he seems you won’t be Australian any longer)… Best get a hydraulic jack and axle stands to be safe and stay a permanent Australian.

PS: the lpg injectors themselves can also clog up with waxes and such. Some can be cleaned but it depends on make and whether service kits are available…

Drive the front wheel onto a decent block of wood (may need a smaller piece in front to act as a ramp or a step).
Or park at the edge of your garage with the nose hanging out as the driveway usually slops down and away at least initially.

Mate it sounds like you LPG set up is having a "hissy-fit" FFS book it into a specialist and get it sorted.

It’s a BRC Sequent system that use the type if injectors in the link below. Yours might be the blue or orange label ones as you’ve got a V6 (mine is a V8) but you might want to get some spares if your planning on keeping the system running in the long term as they don’t make the injectors anymore. They aren’t cheap and I had to get mine from Poland as they are slowly becoming unobtanium.

I just bought two of the below injectors for my system as my LPG guy said one of them is leaking so I bought two so I have a spare (got to get him out to replace it yet). You just need a spray bottle with soapy water to find any leaks in the system.

Fixing it will most likely require an LPG technician to sort out as A) there’s risks involved working with flammable gas and B) special tools will probably be involved that you most likely wouldn’t have on hand.
