What is the usual oil consumption on your SS between oil changes?

Mine uses about 1L every 10 000km. Done that since new. Done 30 000 km so far.

I do drive it hard and trash it on some weekends though...

Is this fine ?

Don't worry Ron, it takes about 30,000km to burnish the bores and rings to get an optimum ring seal.
Probably wont use any oil in the next 10,000kms.

They all burn oil to some degree especially when driven hard I wouldn’t stress about it mate, u could fit an oil catch can to collect some of it instead of being put back into the air intake

Despite modern technology our LS3 are still push rod v8 thats been around for ever, bonus are though thats its simple tech, easy to work on and mega reliable. My car never used oil between services, at 25k i upgraded to the w407 kit and when done the Walky dealer here insisted that if hes going to cover the warranty i changed oil to Penrite HPR30 20W 60
Everyone i tell this to say im crazy, but 20k later and still runs like a dream

That’s suicide mate. Do NOT run hpr30 unless you have enough cash to do a full rebuild in the near future.

Thats exactly what ppl keep telling me im mad...remember too this comes back to what i said above, our engines (LS3) Arnt top of the line tech, theyve basically been the same design for ever, apart from Sodium valves and all Alloy engine its old tech. Walky dealer told me its what they ran in the seventies and eighties and anyone who knows what there talking about and knows these engines will tell you the same thing. PPl need to remember that, thats what makes our engines so good, id take an LS3 over a Coyote 5.0 any day.

I dare say the tolerences in a LS3 are going to be far more tighter and accurate than that of a 253/308 of 1970.
I and many others run 10w50 in standard and worked LS1's with great success never heard of anyone recommending something heavier.
