Certainly better timing control with the gear drives,if you can live with the noise.

Unless you are snapping timing chains, I wouldnt worry about putting timing gears in. If you are only after some noise up front, put a gilmer belt drive in.

But the noise from a gear drive is so much better... Well better in the sense that you can still enjoy your air con. Can you drop timing gears straight into an LS1 or are there oil delivery problems etc?? I'm looking at upgrading to a VY SS sometime soon but I just love the gears in my 5L.

Unless you are a tosser who feels the need for everybody to look at you driving down the road with a rediculous sounding car then it's a waste of money for nearly all street cars.

I agree on the wank factor. Unless it is a full house race car I wouldnt bother.

lol

So, assuming that I am a tosser who feels the need for everybody to look at me driving down the road with a ridiculous sounding car, I won't have any problems fitting these to a GenIII?

I looked into this - they sound magnificent don't they? (call me a tosser).
Unfortunately, they're a no-go. They'd play havoc with your knock sensors.
Under load, you wouldn't hear them over the whine of your twin screw anyway. :yeah:
