Land Rover Defender LS3
Hi everyone;

I’ve an VF (2015) LS3 and matching 6 speed transmission professionally fitted to my 2012 Defender 110. The package only had 10,000kms on it when fitted, and now has 25,000kms on it. I have the vehicle serviced by a LR specialist, oils, fluids, filters etc on the engine, and looking after the rest of the Land Rover maintenance.

‘Should I have an LS3 (Holden) workshop look at the vehicle relative to the engine-transmission package due to any specific requirements of these drive trains, tuning etc? If so, can anyone recommend a suitable servicing business around Hobart? Theres absolutely no issues with the engine-trans, but I want to keep it that way through looking after the engine package correctly via relevant specialist.

Thanks for any guidance Re this and best wishes from Port Arthur.

Ken

I have no recommendations for the Hobart area, I'm sorry, but these parts are common enough in the aftermarket that a decent mechanic will know what needs to be done. In fact I'd trust a recommended mechanic more than a Holden dealer (ex-Holden dealer now?), especially given the customised nature of a fair bit of your car.

PS. I've been in one of those with the ~12kW original engine - you're insane, well done!! :D :D :D

Ha, thanks for your reply Forg, yep, the availability of parts and people who can work on the LS3 was the reason that I chose it over the current 3.5 Ford engine or BMW diesel. I‘m certainly supported by the best Land Rover mechanic in Tassie.
Re the engines performance, it does pull like a 14 year old school boy and looks factory fitted. The team at Les Richmond Automotive in Melbourne did a fantastic job.
