hey everyone

Done abit of work to my VR 6 like CAI,70mm Throttle,Full Exhaust and Chip.
Was going to get it dyno tuned by my mate but come across maffless tuning in one of the other threads WHAT THE HELL IS IT!!!

Anyone got some information in regards to maffless tuning like:
What is it and whats involved,
how effective it will be,
costs,
workshops that can carry out the tune

Is it any different to a dyno tune???
Also can it be done on V6's or is it just for the V8's.

I am totally stumped as to what it is!!!

Thanks anyone who can help me

I don't know exactly how it works, but its something done to the 350 engines.
The MAF (Mass Air Flow) meter is removed from behind the air box and the engine is tuned so it does not need it. Im guessing it is for increasing air flow purposes because i think thay can be quite restrictive.
I don't know what is used to compensate the MAF sensor when out, but i would like to know?
Also want to know whether it can be done to the ecotec engines too because they have a MAF aswell. Anyone know?

You can get a VR computer that runs on MAP rather than MAF put in your VS, then can retune it easily. Supposed to be worth 20kw

Got one in mine.
I lot more responsive, if anything. It reminds me of my old vn commodore when it comes to throttle responsiveness.
I recommend it for sure.

definately recomend the larger throttle body, got mine off ebay from an engineer in lalor(didnt check where you live) good bloke very helpful if you are any where near here i recomend it.

just with minor mods had exhaust and cold air, when i put the throttle body on i got 135km/h out of second gear usually 120 odd!!

I think the mod can cost up to around $2000 and involves removing the MAF meter and replacing with a 2bar map sensor and piggyback tuning with a VR computer, I honestly can't see that being worth 20kw though as it is only a tiny cross sectional area of thin wire being removed fom the intake path really
