well mate here in tassie you can pick up a 5 speed for $750-$850
i suppose the total cost of the conversion could be done for around the $1200-$1500 mark...also don't let anyone tell you that you need to change computers either ,because you don't
what i did was went to my local auctions here and bought a written off 5 speed VN for $900.00,swapped motor and gearbox as one complete unit,just swapped auto facia plate with the manual one,you also have to swap the metal plate where the gearshift goes,take pedal box out and put into yours,anything associated with gearbox and motor ...just a clean swap. so what ever you make off the parts you sell,is what it cost you to convert to 5 speed

I paid (in VIC):

880 for a complete conversion kit - absolutely everything i needed
200 for a complete clutch kit

After fitting everything, turned out the gearbox was ratshit (it was 2nd hand)...
$1000 extra for a newly recoed gearbox (fitted)

$350 refund from the wreckers for a shat gearbox...

total cost:
$1730 for reco gearbox and new clutch, fitted myself.

driving a manual:
priceless.

Friedns of mine have gotten a whole conversion (2nd hand gearbox) fitted by wreckers for around the 1800 mark, drive in, drive out.

Total time for conversion took about 16 hours straight.

damn, you work fast!

i was doing it by myself (except for lifting the box), on ramps, without rattle guns and the likes - also was trying to take my time and make sure i don't forget/mess anything up. 5 hours is certainly impressive though!

same here very easy to do,people say the pedal box is a bitch,it isn't,piece of cake.

Try a supra 5 speed. They are a nicer shifting box and super strong too. Dellow sell kits for them.
