Looks the same as the Alloytec filters.
They have a 26mm socket on the cap and done up to 23Nm
Probably from the same German factory.
These are 25Nm and a 36 socket.

Who knows why they chose such a large size for a comparatively low torque.
I bet no-one sells a 3/8dr 36mm. And space does not allow a 1/2-3/8 adaptor to use 3/8 torque wrench, so you must use 1/2" torque wrench on one of it's lowest possible settings. Not cool Bavarian's!

That white ring is like a felt seal.
O-ring is for the housing.
I'll have to check and see what filter I have in the garage for the BMW but yes, I think it's a 36mm hex. Probably went oversize because the housing is high density plastic and the larger hex would be stronger and more resistant to damage than a smaller one. Having said that, the one on the boys car has been butchered :(

Just had a look, the 330i uses a 2592P filter that looks to be bigger.

Still, it makes sense to use the same 36mm hex fitting standardized across the BMW range, makes it easy for the service guys.
