Hey all,
Can anyone tell me what is involved in mini tubbing a car? I have read that full tubbing requres movement of suspension etc, so its way out of the question.

Or alternativley, what are the widest tyres you can fit on a VS with just rolling the lips of the guards? Is there anyway to fit big rubber/ slicks?

Thanks.

Mini tubbing involves cutting the inner half of the wheel tub out, moving it inboard to the chassis rail and welding the inner tub back in with a filler strip to fill the gap. It sounds easy, but it's a fair bit of work.

Attached a couple of pics of one i'm in the process of doing now.....

Oh wow, yeah i get you mate not as easy as i thought at all.

That looks like a more early girl, what size tyres do the tubs allow you to fit?
Any idea what size tyre you could fit on a second gen commodore?

I'm asking because i'm bidding on 255's on ebay haha.

Cheers.

yeah i was thinking it might be a stretch. I can roll my guards which will help any rubbing, its not the best idea all round, they are 255/40/17 going on my 8inch wide VT SS wheels. i've looked and it seems that i have enough room to squeeze an extra 10mm either side of my 235's, hopefully with the rolled guards it will fit
Its a vs too btw.

Cheers dude

they should just fit on the rear i think, if its the same offset. there isi a thread re VT offsets i seen it the other day.

My VTS2 calais rims are 48P, most commo's are 43P

You mite have to roll the rear out, dont htink they will fit on hte front tho, mite rub on the strut seat.

You just gotta wack em on see how they sit

Cheers for the reply mate,
yeah i wouldn't even bother trying them on the front haha i think 245's would rub on the front
but i can get my guard's lipped by my mate's dad for free, so if i have to i'll have that done.

Cheers.
