More BCM Problems?

My daughter's VY II Exec has recently been having problems with battery flattening.

The charging system was checked out today and is ok. However, I found that when I used the central locking button on the key fob, the horn sounded the four or five short beeps that it should when a door is not closed properly. When I checked, all doors, boot and bonnet were fully closed.

Is this another BCM fault or is something else at fault that is slowly draining the battery overnight? Any ideas anyone?

Not necessary though, I checked with the boot closed by opening the port in the rear seat. Nothing obvious is staying on.

yeah check all lights. do these cars turn on the light when the bonnet is open?

Checked all the internal lights as a first step. All turn off correctly when door or lid is closed. No bonnet activation of any lights.

I suspect that the horn activating incorrectly when locking the doors indicates a fault in the BCM, such as a minor short, which is the cause of the slow draining of the battery. Has anybody else experienced the horn activating incorrectly and were they able to find the cause?

And putting my daughter in the boot is really not an option - the pain afterwards would be more than the fun would be worth...besides, she'd nominate her husband for the job!

it shouldnt cause any problems. once you armed/locked the car, just about all the circuits have power killed after a few minutes, so lights etc nolonger impact on the car causing flat battery's. I have only ever known the horn activating on arm to be a door lock actuator error nothing more so that's odd.

I have a mate who had the same problem with battery flattening overnight, turned out that his drivers elec seat was d icky and the motor in it flattend the battery.

After you have checked the basic things like fuses, leads/wiring etc, take it to an elecy who will diag. sometimes its money well spent even though you dont want to spend it lol.

Yeah, it sure looks like a job for an auto sparky. Not really my problem, it's just that my daughter and her husband care little about their car and bitch when it lets them down. Her car is the world's biggest handbag - everything gets chucked in and ends up on the floor, where it stays for an eternity. Servicing? Well, if dad doesn't do it, it doesn't get done....you know the drift. I have told her that a specialist will be required and the answer is what I expected...sometime after Christmas.

Too bad if they need the car in a hurry one day and the battery has carked it permanently.

beeps on locking

I have a vy 11 and same problem, have u worked out what the go is yet. very interested in your findings. has been beeping for a while and two nights ago the first flat battery with no apparent reason then last night the alarm goes off at 5;30 am no reason, but lots of pissed off neighbours. woops. Can't wait to see what tonight brings.

Interesting ideas here, My VYII Calais was doing the same thing with the flattening battery and it was the same as farlig's mate who had a dicky electric seat and it was constantly trying to adjust hence draining the battery, the way I knew this is when I checked the fuses internal the seat capacitor alloy fuse thing (whatever that is) was REALLY hot when I tried to pull it out.
As for the horn going off, brother in laws VYII SS had the same alarm, horn thing at all sorts of hours, turns out there is some sticker on the back of the horn that shorts it out and sets off the alarm, there is a big post on it here somewhere.
