lol at this thread, seriously to the op, get the tune if you are serious that you want more oomph. do whatever makes you feel good, and dont regret it. all these fcuk witts going on about legalities is stupid and bullshiit. who ever in their right mind has obeyed the law 100%, and if you have, get out more you squares. im not saying go out and break the law, but everyone knows the consequenses and everyone knows whats right and wrong, just go out and have fun and enjoy it, just dont get caught.
haha i agree with this more then anything, i drive around in a raptor supercharged v6 aloytec with just about every mod available but what you have to understand is for the people that realy need there liceance, for work or what not, if u get done with any performance mods you will get 3 points off ur liceance get caught twice and uv got no liceance.. i run the risk and wouldnt have it any other way, but i can understand why people are curious what they can get away with.

Take this genius's advice. Just dont come here complaining about the Policeman who cut up your license and impounded your car, otherwise im going to flame the absolute hell out of you.

+2 to Grennan.
Also dont whinge when you have no insurance and write off your brand new car and someone elses.
If you are not licenced to drive a car, your insurance is void. Incase that doesnt make sense for the "awesome police" your not licenced to drive a modified vehicle on your P's.

I have a solution, move to qld. The only limit is turbo's and under 200kw, which is almost unmeasurable.

I'm sick of this.

The law says, No Performance Enhancing Modifications. Is that any plainer.

If you want more power, it's not legal on your P Plates.

/Thread

Bud, the funniest thing is that people think that an exposed Pod Filter is a performance enhancing modification

Dollars spent on a car do not always = power to all you noobs, it's like trying to take Viagra to get rid of your cold, got to buy the right **** to get results.

Life lesson right there, write it on your lunchboxes!

I agree, but I'd argue that none of anything that P platers do to their cars increase the engines power whatsoever.

- are you modifying your ENGINE by changing the exhaust system? No
- does the engine make anymore power because of the exhaust change? Debatable, and certainly none that it didn't already have.
- does your engine make more power because of your air filter / pod filter / wanky intake? IF ANY nothing it didn't already have.

IMO the only thing that is ACTUALLY A PERFORMANCE MODIFICATION to your ENGINE would be something like a cam or roller rockers.
In that case then you are modifying the engine, not the exhaust, intake, etc etc

By the way just for the people that don't know.

In QLD, No performance upgrades THAT REQUIRES A MOD PLATE. Now if you want manifold insulators or an exhaust. Go for it. You want to change your cams ? go for it... But they need a mod plate im pretty sure, but unless you don't go to lumpy, you should get away with it.

You CAN change your engine, IF The year model of your car came out with that engine in your series ( If you get what I mean. ) Thats the last I heard, unless its changed.
So don't take anything I say seriously, it might not be true.

I was like most other p platers. I WAITED till I was off my P's to do mods.
Do the same as a personal note.

think yourself lucky to those who live in the nanny state. it will only get worse and worse. it will probably soon end up your only allowed to drive a 4cyl car and then they will have a power to weight law as well. the victorian government loves putting in place stupid laws in which it can then fine its citizens on to make more money to waste.

thank god we have a new state government now. all we can do is hope that they're not as foolish as the last one.

being liberal i think we have a slightly better chance haha.

best option is just make your car look nice, don't give a rip about "performance" until you're off your p's then you're not wasting money on a 6.
Nice set of rims, lower a little, tint, stereo.
