Some quite good discussion here, I would like to know why, if in a casino the manager doesn't go up to a facially covered person and say "Excuse me, I am the manager here and as a part of our policy for entering our establishment you must remove anything covering your face for the health and safety of our patrons, thank you" when you go into a supermarket or the like it usually states" It is a condition of entry that all bags must be checked before leaving"
can't the same apply to people covering their heads, just like a motorcyclist has to remove their helmet.
In my local area there is a KFC, which for the last 5 or more years has a sign up stating "We are currently running a trial period of NO bacon in ANY of our burgers" it goes on to tell you of other KFC stores so you can get a bacon burger, all because we have a growing Muslim community where i live, I don't think a "trial" should go for 5 (or more) years, what if any of us went over to a Muslim country and opened up a bacon shop? they would simply shoot us for even trying that, if you work as a hostess on an Arabic airline, as soon as you are in Arab airspace you MUST cover your face, even if you are not Muslim, all this for a minority group, something like 1.8%

well heres my 2 cents if u come 2 austrailia they should b told 2 take that stuff off if we went 2 there countrys we would have 2 dress like them..so they should b made 2 dress like us...if they wanna where that stuff and have rights F*cK off back 2 ya own country

plus som1 said about walking into a bank with there faces covered its like the motor bike helmet u have 2 take that off but wat if it was my religion 2 wear a motor bike helmet would that make it ok??? i think there is a point where the line should b drawn!!! ur in aust now not iraq (or neother middle east place but every 1 knows iraq) so there is no need 2 wear that....rules for ones and theres rules for others....

but i spose we are a multi cultral so not much we can do just deal with it

Actually to an extent western women are also encouraged to "cover up" in these countries... although not with the headcovers... but singlets & tanktops, halter necks etc... that we wear here are very much frowned upon in many areas, women are advised to not wear these & to wear long sleave tops & pants etc....

Anyway, I read that some councils have introduced women only swimming sessions at public pools with only female staff for the sake of muslim women. Am I the only one who finds this wrong? Blatent discrimination IMO.

I agree with you on that one Julie. Unfortunately it isnt the first time that discrimination has been covered by political correctness.
We have drivers up here who are Australian, but cannot understand the English language. They even get a special eye chart cause they cant read the letters.

i had one spook and run because a couple of cars pulled in, came back on the next weekend and held a nasty little knife to the lads neck. never caught, why? because his has was covered as was the female also involved.
Got away with about 10k in cash and ciggies, i was so grateful for people pulling in at the right time!

i dont care if they wear their head dress. good on them, just dont fuggin wear it in a situation where it is going to cause problems (bank, servo, driving ect ect).

what shits me is the fact that they can wear a head dress in an ID photo and get away with it. what is to stop them passing their ID to someone else to use? its ****. respect to them but show respect to our laws. you are not above the law because your religion says you dont have to do blah blah blah.

if they choose their own laws im gunna start my own cult. who wants to join? basiclly im gunna do whatever the fcuk i want just because my religion says i can!

We had the same thing happen with our local KFC. I made it a point to ask for bacon every single time i was there, and crack the Sh!ts when they said they didn't have any (even though i knew they didn't serve it). Friends did the same thing. They eventually brought it back though, apparently because one of the new burgers that came out had bacon as one of the main ingredients. I think it's just wrong that there beleifs are forced onto us in this way. You don't want bacon?? Then go elsewere, simple. What's next, are they going to ban pork altogether because it is offensive to the muslim community?? Will all women haveto cover up in the presence of muslim men?? This subject really sh!ts me to tears....

We had the problem of the banning of pork here in Melb. In the Hume council (where I live) the mayor is a muslim and banned all pork from the council meetings...........front page of the paper, plus a few angry letters to the editor and pork is back on the menu!
