Ps, the car is now warranted and registered with a new set of tires. However still having issues with the fuel, does around 100km or so on a full tank before it starts staving for fuel, missing and cutting out. Going to have a mechanic look at it soon, he thinks it could be a second fuel pump in the tank or the fuel pick up lead in the tank, but will soon find out.

This explains why I needed to put so much gas in it to originally get it started. It will not start unless it has 3/4 of a tank of gas in it and any less it has the symptoms of an empty tank.

That's the trouble I guess with leaving it in the garage for years with no attention.

If it has the two pump set up it sounds like the internal pump needs replacement as this one primes the external pump.

Condition of the engine bay is the best I think I ever seen on a VL.

Probably because it was assembled in the GM plant in NZ , when they still did assemble them down in Wellington

Yes my mechanic mentioned this could be the problem, however he is doing the work at sort of mates rates so I am getting the job done when he is free in his own time in around 2 weeks or so.
