Its only a old wives tale that it ruins the pump sliding the box back in with the converter already on the flex plate

I hope this is a joke. I nearly fucked my pump doing it the wrong way. I wrecked the seal and did some slight pump damage. Trans had to come back out, and ended up back at Harry's. Harry got away with flipping my pump over and fitting a new seal. It could have been a lot more expensive. I was fortunate.

I've decided to drill new holes here...



I figure if I get the holes close she'll be right...

I assume this is a joke post? And am I right in that some of the teeth are damaged on the flex plate?

What do you think... , ALTHO!.... If the holes lined up perfect why wouldn't it work.

I had to ask, because you have indicated that you are wanting to cut corners. Or has that been a joke too?

have you felt the vibration when a wheel is not balanced
that is around 1500 rpm
now imagine that under your feet at 5000 rpm
it will grenade and tear your car in half

A mates missing 3 toes from a jimny flywheel coming through the gearbox tunnel, not the greates thing to go cutting corners on

I heard of a burnout car that had the flywheel let go.....End result was the whole transmission tunnel ripped open, back and front window shattered from the flying debris and the passenger with a massive damage to his leg...(Can't remember the exact injuries)....

And that was only a 6 banger....

So ask oneself what damage are you prepared to wear by not replacing the flywheel and torque converter?

If the trans and TC are located near you, go have a look. If the flex plate and converter aren’t flogged like your exiting hardware, it may be a good option to buy them where you’ll then have your old transmission as a spare to put away.

I’m not sure if HSV and Holden 6L80E’s had the same ratios, so it’s something to consider, but others may be able to clarify if it’s even a concern
