hi guys i need to know if on a VR, are the front shockers sercured in (part of) the strut? or are the shocks removable without changing the strut. please help.........

I think you will find with all commodores the strut is a complete assembly unit, requiring the strut to be replaced when the shocker shits itself.

You also have to remove the whole strut to remove the springs also. :wave:

on the earlier model commodores, up to vs i think, had a shock absorber insert in the strut itself which was held in by a large nut. you need to compress the springs and pull the top of the strut out from the wheel arch to change the insert.

Strut Assembly

Im not sure about VP and below, but from VR to VZ the front is a strut assembly unit. It comes out as a whole.
