seems like diff backlash
jack car up and put on blocks
place in neutral with handbrake on
grab tailshaft and rotate forward and backward
repeat test after long drive when diff is hot

Could it be the rear brakes or handbrake needs adjustment ?
This from a 2007 post here (vt diff clunking)
"Would you believe it was the hand brake out of adjustment.... Adjusted it at the wheels and then readjusted the cable at the lever, no more poblem and drives great."
Someone else posts in another thread that its the rear disc pads or handbrake shoes and that if you apply the handbrake while in reverse it repositions them . Lots of threads about it where folk have thrown money into sorting it and it hasnt done anything...My car has never done it...changed diff oil year before last (oil out was very clean) flushed brakelines late last year...adjusted handbrake 4 months ago... Good Luck finding the cause...
