Hello Everyone!,

I have a VK SL manual that my dad bought for me and im thinking of getting the engine re-conditioned as well as add a little power to it but since im on my P's soon im not sure on how far i should go with the engine, I don't want to spend a fortune cause i will be selling it when i get my full license to get a better project but for now i just want to set myself up with a clean new engine that has some good power to it for 3/4 years.

If this doesn't make sense just comment, and ill re-write it

Thanks Phil

So you're asking what mods you should do, while on your P Plates?

Up the comp and add a little cam while the engine is apart. Maybe port heads if that does anything on the 202s. Then get a nice free flowing but quiet exhaust and nice subtle CAI. Maybe some higher ratio gears for your diff and an LSD. Should be fairly inconspicuous for a p plater.

Best legal mod?

Get rid of the EST and install an electronic ignition from a blue motor.

I ran a 350 holley and performance wise the 32/36 weber is heaps better in the performance stakes. Its got mechanical secondaries so less fuel is burnt. The diff is standard as it is originally a Trimatic behind the 202.3.08 single spinner 8 bolt diff.People stick red 173 heads on 202s to increase compression and a cam would help as well.I am taking out my 202 and sticking in a 253 and wont be needing the motor and all the bits any more.
